Custodial Work Schedules
We are receiving feedback from one or two members of the campus community that we should be hiring more custodians on off shifts as this is viewed as them having unimpeded access to administrative and academic spaces to perform their duties. The thought is they would be more efficient and we could potentially require less FTE's to accomplish the same level of service.
A large portion of our custodial staff start at 5AM and generally work in the admin/academic spaces until some portion of the staff transition to the residence halls. Our custodial staff also take care of events set-ups, weed around their buildings, etc.
With this in mind, I wondered if other universities (we are private) have had similar discussions or are aware of other resources we could use to guide us in this discussion.
Thanks in advance for any help!
