We broke ground this week on what we envision as our iconic location on the Lawrenceville campus. It may seem strange that a steep hillside is a location we choose. However, we decided to take a weakness and make it a strength. Currently, the "stairway" runs up directly up and down the hillside, almost in an incline or cable car style. The current configuration is 40 steps top to bottom. Due to the incline, no one utilizes the stairs, leaving a large, empty parking lot along Sugarloaf Parkway, a major roadway through Lawrenceville. Prolonged empty parking lots are not a good optic no matter how important the work occurring behind the empty lot.

Additionally, the hillside stairway also faces the major roadway previously mentioned. With the new hillside ramp and pavilion, we hope to bring a fresh face to the campus from the roadway and encourage students, staff, and visitors to utilize the new ramp and pavilion as access to our main complex and use the space for photo opportunities. Phase II includes adding the roof at the pavilion and a new entry canopy to the rear of our main complex creating outdoor gathering spaces and a third major entryway into the 250,000 sqft main complex.

I will make an effort to keep the group updated as we make visual progress.
