Our final meeting of 2022 will focus on the Inflation Reduction Act and we will have a special guest presenter to discuss how the act can impact our organizations.

Here is the abstract from our presenter:

The recently passed, Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) aims to reduce domestic energy costs and economy-wide greenhouse emissions by 40% below 2005 levels before 2030.

The IRA commits several incentives and investments to support these goals through commercial buildings – including colleges. Though many of these programs have yet to be created, significant tax incentives for decarbonizing building operations through improved efficiency and innovative solutions (incl. energy storage) go into effect on January 1, 2023.

Join us to learn how to:

  • Reduce campus operational costs
  • Capitalize on these long-standing and expanded incentives
  • Implement the many benefits of thermal energy storage technologies

Key presenter:

Bruce B. Lindsay, PE. Business Development Leader, Trane Technologies’ Thermal Energy Storage systems.

Bruce has been involved in thermal energy storage research, engineering, sales, and operation for over 30 years.  He was the Executive Director of the EPRI Thermal Storage Applications Research Center at the University of Wisconsin –Madison.  He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Wisconsin.  He most recently managed the energy and resource conservation program for Brevard Public Schools, which had 20 schools with ice storage systems.  He published a history of thermal energy storage in the ASHRAE Journal and received the US Green Building Council’s 2020 Best of Green Schools-Transformation Award for his work on an ASHRAE Building Energy Quotient pilot program.  He was appointed to the ASHRAE Epidemic Task Force—Schools Team.  He currently serves as President of the ASHRAE Space Coast Section.
